Day 4 Pantanal / Cuiabá
A canoeing trip at sunrise, where capybaras a large flock of parrots should be seen.  They are particularly active at this time of day being crepusculars. Return for breakfast followed by a walk which starts in the grassland.  As the day starts to heat up the walk will be concentrated in the shade of many native tree species which grow along the river.  These include the tabebuia (Tabebuiaimpetiginosa), stronler fig (Ficus luschnathiana), Ximbuva (Enterolobium contortisiliquum) and the carvão branco (Callisthene fasciculate).   We then pass through a series of forests all the way back to the lodge to complete the loop. Along the walk you are likely to see helmeted manakins, blue-crowned trogons and black-tailed marmosets.  The walk is about 6 km and will take about 2.5 hours to complete because there is much to see and discuss.  After lunch at 3:00pm we will head back to Cuiabá in the afternoon where you will be dropped off at the airport or city hotel depending on your preference. (B,L).

The Pousada Rio Clarinho has ten en suite bedrooms with hot showers and ceiling fans.  There is a porch for relaxing in hammocks and a beautiful restaurant. The farm is full of rustic charm and serves authentic Pantanal cuisine.  There is a 20m high observation tower nearby and the sound of birdsong surrounds the farm all day. The river is close by and offers one of the best chances to see Giant Otters in the Pantanal. This area probably contains the most varied number of animal species to be observed all year around in the Pantanal, making it a wildlife paradise.
Note:

All our tours operate in small groups in order to leave as little trace as possible of our visit.  We feel responsible ecotourism will help to protect and conserve this natural paradise by raising awareness at not just a local level but also an international one through our guests experience.  During our tours we always treat wildlife with complete respect and minimal disturbance.  The motivation behind our company is the passion we have for the Pantanal which we hope to convey to our clients.

Although this tour was created for 4 days/ 3nights, it is simply an example of the type of programme we can package for you.  We are very happy to design a tailor-made tour suited to your specific preferences.  For example, you may want a longer or shorter trip, or to concentrate on a particular group of animals.  If you have any special requirements or questions you’d like to ask please do not hesitate to contact us.
